Calling up Downing Street….hello, Gordon?

Today, Wednesday, from 11:30am – 2:00pm people from all over Europe will be calling their respective heads of state demanding ambitious cuts in line with the climate science. We need you to be part of this by calling Number 10 on 0207 930 4433 and demanding that the UK government pressures for an agreement that:
1) Cuts emissions from the EU by at least 40% by 2020; and
2) Ensures that this target does not include any sneaky offsets.

If you’re not sure how to do it, here’s a video showing you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPAIQkI9jTE

When you get through the operator will tell you that you can’t leave a message and that you should send a letter. Tell him/her that it is urgent and you want to see Gordon push for a 40% cut! Be persistent!

You will be joined by hundreds of passionate young people right here inside the UN Conference Centre and all around Europe. The message from around the world is simple: ‘Cut by 40%!’

Please send this to 5 friends who you think will phone in as well and let Gordy B know what you want.

If you don’t get through straight away, keep trying!!

I will be doing this and you’re not going to get into trouble for doing it, don’t worry…..otherwise I wouldn’t be doing it….my mum would be really annoyed if the police suddenly came and knocked on the door.

One Response to Calling up Downing Street….hello, Gordon?

  1. Absolutely hopeless. I called No 10 Downing Street three times and each time I was put through to the talking computer, which told me that I could not leave a message and that the ony way was to either fax or send a letter. By the way each time I rang the operator got more and more upset and listened less and less to me demanding that I be allowed to talk to Gordon Brown to push for a 40% reduction.

Onwards and upwards but not with Gordon.
